El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse on Thuy Van Street, Vung Tau sits right by the sea, exposed to high humidity and salt air all year round. Background music for both the indoor dining room and the outdoor terrace runs on IP65-rated Ecler eMOTUS5OD loudspeakers with an ARQIS subwoofer, integrated by Con Bao So.
A steakhouse right on the seafront
El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse Vung Tau is located on Thuy Van Street, the road running along Back Beach. The restaurant has an indoor dining room with a high ceiling, exposed brick walls and a bar, plus a large terrace opening onto the street, covered with a thatched roof and parasols.
With this layout, background music has to flow seamlessly from inside to outside: guests on the terrace and guests in the dining room share the same atmosphere, at a level that still allows easy conversation over a meal.
The challenge: high humidity and salt air
- Seafront location: humid, salt-laden air all year round, which quickly corrodes grilles and damages cones on ordinary devices.
- Semi-open terrace: loudspeakers are exposed to sun, driving rain and wind.
- Exposed brick, timber and rattan architecture: loudspeakers need to be compact and discreet.
- One system for both areas: a single loudspeaker model keeps the sound consistent and maintenance simple.
The solution: eMOTUS5OD indoors and outdoors
The loudspeaker chosen is the Ecler eMOTUS5OD, a 2-way cabinet with a 5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, 40 W RMS, with a frequency range of 77 Hz–20 kHz. It is designed for outdoor installation and is IP65 rated: dust-tight and protected against water jets.
- ABS cabinet and aluminium grille, with no steel grille to rust.
- Rear rubber cover sealing the connectors.
- Wall bracket and safety steel cable included.
- Works on 70/100 V lines (3.75 / 7.5 / 15 / 30 W taps) or at 8 ohm low impedance, convenient for running many loudspeakers on long cable runs.
At El Gaucho Vung Tau, black eMOTUS5OD loudspeakers are mounted high on the brick walls, on column heads and under the terrace roof, aimed down at the dining tables. The black finish and compact size let them blend in with the wall lamps and steel structure. The eMOTUS5OD is the model the customer trusted for this project.
An ARQIS subwoofer for a fuller low end
To give the music more body without turning up the main loudspeakers, the system adds the Ecler ARQISSB10i subwoofer: a 10-inch woofer, 150 W RMS, 54 Hz–4 kHz, in a wooden cabinet supplied with a wall bracket. The subwoofer handles the low frequencies while the eMOTUS5OD focuses on vocals and instruments, so the background music sounds warm and clear at a moderate level.
