The Ecler ecosystem for restaurants, hotels and resorts: audio, video and control in one system

The Ecler ecosystem for restaurants, hotels and resorts: audio, video and control in one system

A resort has dozens of areas with different audiovisual needs. Ecler has all the equipment to cover them completely: loudspeakers for every space, amplifiers, zoning processors, video distribution, central control and peripherals, all speaking the same language. This article gives an overview of that ecosystem.

A resort does not have one audio system, it has many: the reception lobby, restaurants, bar, swimming pool, beach, spa, gym, conference rooms, kids' area, corridors and car park. On top of that come the screens in the lobby, the TVs in the sports bar, the projectors in the meeting rooms and site-wide paging. When each part comes from a different manufacturer, the owner ends up with multiple software packages, multiple warranty contacts and a system that is hard to expand.

Ecler takes the opposite approach: an ecosystem of loudspeakers, amplifiers, processors, video equipment, control panels and software designed to work together. That is why Ecler is confident in taking on the entire audiovisual scope of a restaurant, hotel or resort.

Who is Ecler

Ecler is a professional audio and video equipment brand from Barcelona, Spain, founded in 1965; its products are designed in Barcelona. Ecler equipment is used for background music, paging and presentation in shops, hotels, restaurants, offices, schools, and sports and leisure venues. The catalogue currently has more than 300 products, divided into two groups: audio and video (the VEO series).

1. Audio for every area

Each area of a resort has its own requirements for sound level, aesthetics and durability. Ecler has loudspeakers for each case:

  • Lobby, corridors, restrooms: IC3, IC6i and VIC6 in-ceiling loudspeakers, sitting neatly in the ceiling, with grilles that can be painted to match the ceiling colour.
  • Restaurants, cafés: IC6i in-ceiling loudspeakers or small wall-mounted cabinet loudspeakers.
  • Bar, lounge, beach club: ARQIS wooden-cabinet loudspeakers (from 6 to 12 inches) with subwoofers, or the compact NIMBO series.
  • Swimming pool, garden, beach: eMOTUS OD, rated IP65, mounted on walls; ZEN-15 and IG108i placed on the ground, blending in among the plants.
  • Conference rooms, banquet rooms: wall-mounted ARQIS loudspeakers, LABI1 column loudspeakers for reverberant rooms.
  • Spa, treatment rooms: IC3 played quietly, with a volume knob in each room.
  • Gym: ARQIS and subwoofers for punchy music.
  • Souvenir shops, display areas with lighting tracks: WiSpeak wireless loudspeakers mounted on the track, with no loudspeaker cabling needed.

The loudspeakers are matched by a full range of amplifiers: eCA micro amplifiers for a single room, eHMA mixer amplifiers, AURA multichannel amplifiers, DARA amplifiers with signal processing, and HALO and VIDA networked amplifiers with Dante/AES67 for large projects. Most series support 70/100 V lines (the eCA series has a dedicated eCA120HZ version for 70/100 V) to drive many loudspeakers over long cable runs, which is essential in a spread-out resort.

2. Central processing and zoning

The brain of the system decides which music source goes to which area, how loud it plays, and where announcements cut in. Ecler offers several tiers of choice by scale:

  • HUB1408, HUB1616: zone managers for 8 to 16 zones, configured from a web browser, with ready-made presets for quick start-up. Suitable for small and medium-sized hotels.
  • MIMO88SG, MIMO1212SG, MIMO88: freely programmable digital audio matrices, with automatic scheduling, feedback suppression and paging priority.
  • MIMO7272DN: a 72 x 72 matrix with Dante/AES67 for resorts with multiple buildings, with signals travelling over the network infrastructure. MIMO4040CDN: a 40 x 40 matrix with Dante/AES67, designed for conference rooms.
  • VIDA, HALO networked amplifiers: combine amplifier, matrix, signal processing and audio player in one device for each area.

3. Video distribution with the VEO series

Video in a resort involves three jobs: presentation in meeting rooms, showing the same content on multiple screens, and sending signals over long distances. Ecler's VEO series has equipment for all three:

  • Meeting rooms, conference rooms: the VEO-SWC45 wireless presentation switcher, so guests present from their own laptops and hold online meetings with the room's camera and microphone.
  • Sports bars, lobbies with multiple screens: the VEO-MXH88D HDMI matrix (8 x 8, 4K 60 Hz) or MAIA-16 (16 x 16, 4K 60 Hz), so any source can be sent to any screen.
  • Site-wide distribution over the network: the VEO-XTI1CG2 transmitter and VEO-XRI1CG2 receiver carry Full HD video over a 1 Gb Ethernet network, scale with the number of source points and viewing points, and are managed with the VEO-XCTRLG2.
  • Sending signals over long distances: the VEO-XPT44A HDBaseT extender carries 4K up to 40 m or Full HD up to 70 m over a single Cat 5e/6 cable.
  • Splitting one source to multiple screens: the VEO-SPS44 splitter (1 to 4, 4K).
  • Feeding TV sound into the area's loudspeaker system: the VEO-AEXS4 audio extractor and embedder.

4. Central control

A large system only works well when each person has exactly the controls they need. Ecler divides control into several tiers:

  • Staff in each area: wall panels. WPa and TOCA volume knobs; the eMCONTROL1 panel for source selection and volume on the HUB; WPNET key panels for MIMO; PULSO touch screens and the 10-inch WPNETTOUCH.
  • Managers: the Ecler pilot app on a phone and UCP control panels on a tablet, to adjust every area from anywhere in the resort.
  • Reception: the eMPAGE paging station (16 zones, 20 keys) or the PAGE-X touch paging station, to page a specific area or the whole site.
  • Technical staff: EclerNet Manager software for programming; the EclerCLOUD platform for remote monitoring and control; Ecler Gallery for remote management of music players and playback schedules.
  • Integration: the TP-NET protocol for connecting to third-party building control systems.

5. Interface and peripheral devices

Between the main blocks are the small devices that make the system seamless. This is usually the part that has to be pieced together from several manufacturers; Ecler has it available within the same ecosystem:

  • Dante/AES67 interfaces: BOB-04 (4 outputs), BOB-22 (2 in, 2 out), DN44BOB (4 in, 4 out), putting audio onto the network and taking it off at any point with a network port.
  • Music sources: PLAYER ONE and PLAYER ZERO play from memory cards, internet radio and AirPlay; DUO-NET PLAYER is a dual player integrated with EclerNet.
  • Local inputs: the WPaBT wall-mounted Bluetooth receiver, the WPaMIX-T wall-mounted micro-mixer, the WPaCNX microphone connection plate.
  • Microphones: the eMCN2 gooseneck microphone with the eMBASE desktop base for reception desks and lecterns.
  • Installation accessories: mounting brackets, U-brackets and wall boxes to match each loudspeaker and control panel model.

Picturing a complete resort

  • Lobby and corridors: IC6i, IC3; welcome screens receiving video via VEO.
  • Main restaurant: IC6i, an eMCONTROL1 panel at the counter, a music schedule that changes automatically by mealtime.
  • Bar and lounge: ARQIS with subwoofers, a DJ input, sports TVs via the VEO matrix.
  • Swimming pool and beach: eMOTUS OD, ZEN-15; a microphone for entertainment hosts via WPaMIX-T.
  • Spa and gym: IC3 for treatment rooms, ARQIS for the gym, WPaBT for trainers.
  • Conference room: ARQIS or LABI1, microphones, VEO-SWC45 for wireless presentation.

Why Ecler is confident with a resort

  • A complete product range: from 3-inch loudspeakers for treatment rooms to 12-inch loudspeakers and subwoofers for beach clubs, from 60 W amplifiers to 2400 W networked amplifiers.
  • Audio and video from one brand: a single point of contact for design, warranty and training.
  • One control system throughout: wall panels, phone app, paging stations and remote monitoring all sit within the same system.
  • Open Dante/AES67 standards and the TP-NET protocol: ready to connect to the resort's network infrastructure and control systems.
  • Interior-friendly design: paintable grilles, multiple colours, discreet loudspeaker shapes, and WPa series control panels designed in collaboration with Italdesign Giugiaro.
  • Proven in the field: many hotels, resorts and beach clubs around the world are running on Ecler systems.
